BOAT TOURS NHZ
(NEW HARBOUR ZONES)
A performance at sea
It is now back in an English version.
30 May – 3 June, 2026
Hop on board when the large-scale performance BOAT TOURS NHZ (New Harbour Zones) once again takes over the Copenhagen harbour.
The performance was a big hit with both audiences and reviewers back at the premiere in 2024, it is now back in an english version.
It is built around a boat tour on a tourist vessel to hidden locations, where we experience Copenhagen’s waterfront with new eyes. Drawing on, among other things, the history of Sydhavn, a future scenario is staged. Everyone is invited on an adventure where the unexpected unfolds — both on land and at sea.
In a hybrid of choreography, performance, text and music, BOAT TOURS NHZ (New Harbour Zones) explores both the contemporary harbourfront and the old royal, military and merchant port. The performance launches into a fantasy of the harbour of the future, playing with the ideas and stories that the harbour represents. With humour and gravitas, it brings the ideological and political battles over the city into play.
Captain Atlas and his crew — Agent Neptune, Agent Jupiter and Agent Polaris — look forward to welcoming you on board!
The performance is curated by CPH STAGE and presented in collaboration with PUBLIC PERFORMANCE and Sydhavn Teater.
“The five main actors on the tour are wonderful, and it is Adelaide Bentzon and Erik Pold who have elegantly staged BOAT TOURS NHZ … A performance that should not only be experienced for its great entertainment value and the futuristic world Bentzon and Pold have created, as well as the really cool sci-fi soundtrack by the electropop duo Oak & Shaw, but also because it is innovative performative political theater with meaning.
Who is the most beautiful in this country? BOAT TOURS NHZ is your and my mirror. And we can always use more of that.”
Casper Koeller / Sceneblog
“The ambitiously wide-ranging boat tour performance marking Liminal’s 25th anniversary has the very appropriate character of a generous overbid: a demonstration of the group’s brainpower, risk-taking and ability to yawn at too much, yet always manage to haul it home. A rare experience in the Danish scene.”
Monna Dithmer / Politiken
“Liminal and Sydhavn Theater originally rethink the political theater and walking theater in a dove movement on a tour boat through Copenhagen Harbor … Boat Tours NHZ is a really well thought out and executed development of the many walks of the time. Sailing in itself gives a special atmosphere and the story is alternately fragmented and intense so that you yourself can sink a little into the scenery or wave to the music and then connect again. It is successful stagecraft. Beautiful and crass at the same time.”
Anne Liisberg / ISCENE
“A Danish summer evening can trump any stage designer. … Boat Tours NHZ takes full advantage of this. With great humour, however, they also make use of the scenery of the waterfront, and it is an experience to see the new zones – new districts, I mean – from the lakeside and see them embedded in a narrative with actors and dancers, music and song, humor and satirical bite . The text plays perfectly with what we see from the boat. Comical and satirical – and very accurate. Considering that it is actually no more expensive than a classic canal cruise of the same length, NHZ Boat Tours are absolutely competitive. And skilled in general.”
